Situated in Royal Women’s Hospital Carlton Campus, the Andrology Unit and Sperm Bank is one of the oldest and largest in Australia dating as far back as 1976. Associate Professor Gary Clarke headed the Andrology Unit since its inception for almost four decades, and retired in late 2019. He developed the test for immunological factors in semen preventing conception, now used worldwide.
Andrology provides a full diagnostic service for routine andrology testing and other more specialised testing, in addition to clinical sperm cryopreservation for the four major hospitals in the Parkville Precinct, and other public and private healthcare service providers throughout Greater Melbourne and Victoria.
